RYI5™ Note
FIDO is a Position and Demand story translated to a mission. The programs were strong; distribution was the constraint. Here, RYI5's revenue drivers read as fundraising yield and program throughput: Efficiency becomes fundraising yield and recurring giving, Utilization becomes program throughput (fences, doghouses, spay/neuter, pantry), Demand becomes donor and volunteer pipeline continuity, Position becomes community awareness and authority, and Profitability becomes donor-retention efficiency. Rebuild the brand so the story travels, then install the donor and volunteer systems that compound support month over month.

The Situation

FIDO, Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside, delivers life-changing services for dogs and families across Marion County: safe fencing, shelter, food assistance, and spay and neuter support. The mission was strong and the community trust was real.

What was missing was a digital presence to match it, which limited awareness, donor and volunteer growth, and the ability to show the measurable impact of the work.

The Diagnosis

Five root causes surfaced, each mapping cleanly to an RYI5 driver.

  • The digital presence did not match the mission. Position Website and communications undersold a trusted brand, capping awareness and community authority.
  • Donor and volunteer demand was left to chance. Demand No lifecycle communication meant giving and sign-ups spiked around single appeals instead of compounding.
  • Awareness was untargeted and under-local. Position The story was not reaching the Marion County audiences most likely to give and volunteer.
  • Program capacity was gated by inputs. Utilization Fences, doghouses, food, and spay and neuter throughput were limited by the dollars and volunteers the marketing was not yet generating.
  • Recurring support was underdeveloped. Efficiency Monthly giving and repeat volunteers, the most efficient funding, sat well below potential.

The Strategy

The mission was never the problem. Distribution was. Position Demand

Rebuild the brand experience so the story travels, then install the donor and volunteer systems that turn attention into recurring support. Every channel pointed at two compounding outcomes: more dollars and more hands.

RYI5™ Vital Sign Performance

The FIDO engagement activated all five RYI5 vital signs. Primary leverage sat in the Durability Layer (Position and Demand). Those two drove the Financial Core (Efficiency, Utilization, and Profitability). For a mission, that combined effect reads as more dollars, more hands, and more dogs served.

Primary · Durability Layer

Position

Brand rebuild, storytelling, social, and content production.

Website +90%, organic +120%, social engagement +180%, video views 150,000+, community partnerships +50%, and a significant lift in local recognition.

Primary · Durability Layer

Demand

Segmented email and SMS lifecycle plus event systems.

Monthly donors +45%, volunteer applications +80%, email subscribers +60%, event participation +55%.

Supporting · Financial Core

Efficiency

Simplified donation systems and a recurring-giving path.

Online donations +65%, recurring monthly donors +45%.

Supporting · Financial Core

Utilization

Funds and volunteers converted into program throughput.

Fences built +35%, doghouses +40%, spay/neuter +30%, pantry +30%.

Supporting · Financial Core

Profitability

Donor retention and recurring giving lower the cost per dollar raised.

A growing returning-donor base improved fundraising efficiency.

The Takeaway

When the mission is strong, growth is a distribution problem. Rebuild the brand so the story travels, then run the donor and volunteer systems that compound. The result is not just better metrics, it is more dogs served.
